Hiking with Shelter Dogs is like a Mini-Vacation
Hiking with the Shelter Dogs is like a Mini Vacation…
This is the Maricopa County Animal Care and Control’s Wag and Walk program. Active dogs, big and small, are given a great day out when volunteers take them hiking. The mental and physical exercise allows the dogs to enjoy a mini-holiday, and better manage the confines of shelter life.
Beginning October 1st, these dogs are offered for adoption at the trailhead! Adopters can bring their families to a relaxed, beautiful location to look for their new, active pet that has a head start on social behavior. The dogs can head to their forever homes directly from the hike.
